This volume contains fashion works by Judy Bales from around 2010 to 2026. Initially, industrial plastics and metals, often found or salvaged, were her chosen mediums. Utilizing these cold, mass-produced materials, she created forms that ironically suggested the warmth of the natural world.
Seeing her work animated on models added a human connection that became a precious part of creating fashion. Her consideration for those modeling spurred her to create softer pieces, and to explore the potential of fabric itself as a sculptural medium. This evolution is illustrated in this volume through beautiful photographs of Bales’ work on models walking the runway as well as in studio settings.
