About the Book
Tropical Light is a catalog of a successful photography exhibit in Tokyo in 2017 and 2018. The book features all of the photographs from the exhibit, which was also called Tropical Light and was shown in five venues in Tokyo. The photographs were made in Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia. They are both of Chuuk Lagoon, and of Xavier High School, a Jesuit mission school that has produced many of the Micronesian region's top leaders. The exhibit -- and book -- features the natural and human beauty of the Pacific Islands.

About the Creator
Floyd K. Takeuchi
Honolulu, Hawaii USA
A writer-photographer who specializes in the Pacific Islands, Hawaii and Japan. He is particularly interested in how traditional cultural values integrate in contemporary settings. His photography often focuses on finding beauty in daily life, whether it be on a remote Pacific Islands atoll or a side street in Tokyo. Floyd is a hybrid shooter, comfortable with digital capture, as well as using film cameras in his projects, too. His current film camera of choice is a mid-1950s Graflex Crown Graphic Special.
