Lisa Summers was born and raised in Kansas City and now lives at the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. She's a mother first, and a connector by nature — years spent building relationships and finding her way into rooms, industries, and conversations most people wouldn't. That same instinct for paying attention to people, and to what's underneath what they say, shows up in her writing. The Silent Teachers grew out of a moment with her daughter that she carried for years before she understood it. She's currently at work on a longer book about growing up as the hearing daughter of a deaf mother — and what it meant to spend a lifetime being someone's ears.
